Plasticity
General Definition
In biology and neuroscience, plasticity refers to the capacity for structural adaptation of an organism or system. In the OCE, plasticity is the symbolic potency of unstable matter to functionally reorganize itself without a prior plan, creating emergent coherence.
Ontological Variations in the Ontology of Emergent Complexity
Plasticity As Potency of Matter
Plasticity is an expression of the creative instability of matter — not an external attribute, but an effect of its operative mode.
Reorganization Without Model
There is no ideal form to achieve. Plasticity operates through continuous and local adjustment, without transcendental reference or plan.
Symbolic Plasticity
Plasticity only becomes symbolic when reorganization creates persistence of meaning. Therein emerges operative subjectivity.
